What is the ‘I am from project?’

In these times of hatred and fear the project is a unique way to celebrate diversity for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The idea stems from the work of George Ella Lyon who invited people to write about life experiences that shaped who they are today.

I was also inspired by the work done by Andrea Bimbaum, a professional photographer and educator who has worked for many years teaching photography and utilizing the concept of Therapeutic Photography to engage with teens, underprivileged and troubled youth all over the United States.

I have combined these two concepts and opened it up to everyone who I know will derive a benefit from the process.

My aim is to produce an artwork of a personal life poem written by each participant in their own style along with a ‘selfie’’ or portrait photograph. These will be edited by me to produce a coherence to the random photographs submitted, creating a colourful and engaging body of work

I hope this will provide an insightful peak to the viewer of those included and some insights for the participants themselves.
